INSTRUMENTATION AND TESTING
Developing sensors and customized test methods
Instrumentation and testing has been a key element of most of the 100+ projects in which I have been involved. Some projects have require me to develop specialized sensors for obtaining critical data. I have designed and managed many field and laboratory tests, and have designed specialized test fixtures and loading devices. For example
I led a team in the design and manufacture of inertial measurement units (IMU) that could measure accurately the motion of an object in 3D space at high angular rates.
I designed a load cell for measuring the loads and moments in track fasteners used in subways.
I designed impact loading devices for testing athletic shoes and railroad track components.
